Our endeavor is to enhance value creation in the society and in the community, through our services, conduct and initiatives, so as to promote sustained growth for the society and community, in fulfilment of our role as a socially responsible corporate.

ATC India, to contribute to the implementation of the “Digital India” mission of the Government of India, where most of the population resides in rural areas launched its “Digital Village” Program. The Digital Village leverages the space, security, uninterrupted power supply and broadband link from a tower site to provide critical access to digital literacy and other digital services.

ATC CSR Foundation India is the philanthropic arm of ATC India and its mission is to help leverage the Digital Villages to its next phase by way of partnering with the appropriate solution providers (such as telecom operator, IT companies, Social Media companies, rural NGO’s and Banks etc.) for providing e-education, e-health, e-finance and e-governance.

Our Programs:

Digital Literacy and Skilling

This has evolved over many phases since inception from just being aimed at providing self-learning through Hole-in-the-Wall education kiosks (HiWel) in the village communities to more advanced Digital Learning Centers (DLCs) at ATC India tower sites to Career Development Centres to provide digital literacy and skills for gainful employments. This initiative has reached out to ~165 tower locations resulting in more than 65,000 digitally literate and certified students amongst which 430 students have received job placements and started earning a decent livelihood for themselves and their families.

Cloud-enabled Digital Villages

To further its commitment to Indian Government’s Digital India Mission and leverage the scope of Digital Village project, the foundation and HPE signed an agreement with Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (through its SPV, Common Service Centers) to deploy 30 Digital Villages In Uttar Pradesh and Bihar states. These Digital Villages would include cloud-enabled health centers, digital classrooms, public Wi-Fi and infrastructure for digital delivery of various G2C and B2C services.

Preventive Health Care:

We have initiated a community healthcare program in collaboration with NGO partners by engaging with approximately 5000 adolescents in villages of Jharkhand to build a platform where talking of health concern of young girls and women is not a stigma and social issues such as child marriage, alcoholism and school drop outs can be deliberated upon using community platforms.

Covid Relief Measures:

In these challenging times, ATC India has responded rapidly by extending direct support to the Government (with a contribution of Rs.7.5 Crores to the PM Cares Fund). The foundation reached out to vulnerable communities by way of engaging with employees, facilitation partners, community leaders and local authorities, to ensure that relief measures and awareness and safety protocols for COVID-19 were fed all the way down to the grassroots to impact more than 50,000 beneficiaries.

Our mission for CSR post COVID-19 will be “Digital Solutions for the Vulnerable”. The post Covid-19 era will bring a host of issues with it including greater challenges related to education, livelihood and health, particularly in rural areas. Clearly, this is not a time to continue with ‘CSR as usual’. The foundation will direct its efforts at enhancing its current digital village program to include innovative models on digital literacy, e-health and telemedicine, and to launch livelihood programs for vulnerable communities to fight the dynamic challenges of the current times.

ATC CSR Foundation India has identified the following focus areas to spur its Digital villages to the next phase to extend to entire geographic region of India including its sites and work- stations:

• Rural development and welfare projects including digital literacy and financial literacy, promoting telemedicine, e-commerce, e-finance and e-governance projects for upliftment of rural population
• Infrastructure support for safe drinking water and sanitation, promoting vocational skills/education and livelihood projects for underprivileged, slum and rural population
• Environmental sustainability by promoting renewal energy solutions including solar power, community plantation projects etc
